The New Way to Deliver Wedding Photos
Here’s the thing about delivering wedding photos – it’s honestly one of the best parts of the job. The wedding’s done, editing’s done, and now you get to share something you’re excited about with two people who’ve been waiting for it. That moment deserves to be special. It should reflect who you are as a photographer. For 8 years, I’ve been using Pic-Time to deliver wedding photos to my clients, and their new 2.0 update is a complete game changer. If you’ve been looking for a way to deliver wedding photos that actually matches the level of your photography, this is it. The entire client experience just got elevated in a major way.
Dark Galleries and Dynamic Cover Pages
Right from the start, your clients see a cover page with a hero image and a video. The entire gallery can now have a dark background, which is something I’ve wanted for a while. It looks spectacular with certain weddings – like when you have greens in the decorations against that black background, it just matches perfectly. At the top of every gallery, I include a slideshow. This is my selection of the best images telling the story of the day in the most interesting way. The slideshow is made inside Pic-Time, and I usually choose a slow romantic song from their music selection. When I deliver my photos, I want my clients to feel a little emotional. Tears are very much welcome here. This sets the tone for the entire gallery experience and makes the moment of receiving their photos feel special.
Gallery Scenes and Dynamic Headers
The gallery is divided into chapters -they are called scenes in Pic-Time. These are accessible from the top menu, and each scene starts with a new dynamic header. I absolutely love that this can be a video = it adds so much energy to the gallery. But it can also be a photo or just text. Those headers add so much to the gallery flow. You can have a getting-ready scene with a photo header, ceremony with video, reception with another video. All these scenes are accessible from the top menu bar, so clients can jump around easily. There are currently 17 different header designs to choose from, and half of them work with images or videos, while the other half is text-only. Knowing Pic-Time, there’s a lot more coming in future updates.
How Clients Interact with Their Wedding Photos
Here’s what’s cool now – how your clients can actually interact with the photos. As they select photos, a nice bar appears at the bottom giving them options. They can go to the store, share photos to social media or through text messages, download photos if you let them, and save them to custom selections. They can also heart each image as their favorites or hide certain photos from other users of the gallery. Your clients have full control over what to show and to who. If they create multiple collections, like favorite collections, they’re all accessible at the top of the gallery, and they can share them individually with whoever they want. This level of control makes the client experience so much better and takes pressure off you as the photographer.
Face Filter Search – A Game Changer
On the left side of the top menu is one of my favorite features of the entire platform – the face filter search. The search bar gives your clients and their guests the option to find themselves in photos or actually any combination of people or keywords. For example, you can select the bride and a bridesperson, and boom, it shows them together in photos. All the first photos show both of them together, then the rest show one of them. This is extremely useful for wedding guests, and I can really see it in my stats by how many guests download photos of themselves. This is an absolute game changer for the client experience. Wedding guests love being able to find themselves quickly without scrolling through hundreds of photos.
The New Store and Print Sales
The store got a massive upgrade. You can have your gallery connected to different print labs depending on where your clients are. For example, for European clients, I use Wooden Banana Albums. You can set your own prices, and without you doing anything, your clients and their guests can buy prints and albums delivered straight to them. The entire storefront has a new editorial look that matches the gallery. Every product page includes a video now, so clients can see how the product will actually look. There are also detailed photos. The whole idea is to boost sales because photographers who show physical products on their social media or websites make the most out of print sales. Pic-Time now handles all of this for you. The product pages are beautiful – just look at how the album pages are designed. The design process is simple too. Clients choose the size and style of the album, which dynamically updates in the preview so they can see the size and texture.
AI Album Designer
Here’s where it gets really interesting. Clients can now use the new AI designer that builds an album for them. They select who they are – couple, parents, family, or someone else. They choose their VIPs using the face search filter, then pick must-have photos they want in the album no matter what. Last, they choose a layout style. A few seconds later, they have a complete suggested design. I haven’t touched anything, and the spreads actually make sense. Getting ready images are together, then separate for bride and groom. Group photos on a separate spread with ceremony on another spread. Portraits, party – the party has more photos in it, which makes complete sense. This is how I would design it manually. It all flows perfectly. If clients want, they can make any changes to the layout or photos. They can use the new photo picker that slides in and shows photos already used, and lets them search other photos with keywords or face filter. This is next level for how easy it will be for clients to design albums with the images they want.
Customizing Your Gallery Design
Every gallery now has a brand new design tab. On the left is the control panel, on the right is a live preview for both desktop and mobile. Every change is immediately reflected. First, you have templates – themes like classic, fine, and minimal. These are combinations of gallery covers, scene headers, fonts, and layouts. You either use them or use them as a starting point and go into customization. The most requested feature was the ability to change the gallery background and colors, and now it’s possible. There’s a handful of color sets, and five of them use a dark background that looks stunning with the right images. Pic-Time already said they’ll implement custom colors in the future, so you’ll be able to choose whatever colors you want. In style settings, you can choose the gallery font, which applies to buttons and the entire interface. You have six options right now, with the promise that Pic-Time will let you upload your own fonts in the future. Look how different each one feels. You can choose the weight – bold or light. Button and search bar shapes can be customized. The photo grid layout lets you choose photo sizes and spacing. I love big photos with narrow gaps, but many photographers prefer small photos with big gaps for an editorial look. You can go whichever way you want.
